“Cleansing Roots” Supportive Herbal Tea Recipe

Our bodies are naturally able to cleanse themselves, but every once in awhile, it may be helpful to give our built-in cleansing system a boost. Luckily for us, there are a huge amount of herbs available to us that herbalists claim might be able to assist us in doing that.

This blend is packed full of herbs that many herbalists claim to be liver and lymphatic system supporting. In addition to that, it also tastes great. This blend is warming, sweet, and inviting. If you like chai, you’ll likely find yourself a fan of this mix as the flavor profile is similar. This recipe should yield you about 15 servings.

What You’ll Need

  • 3 TBSP Burdock root
  • 3 TBSP Dandelion root
  • 3 TBSP Sarsaparilla root
  • 2 crushed Star Anise Pods
  • 1 TBSP of whole Cloves

How to Make

This blend is made out of roots and other hard materials. In order to maximize the flavor, you will need to brew it as a decoction. A decoction is a lot simpler to make than it sounds. We’ll cover it in detail below.

  1. Blend all of the roots and spices together
  2. Measure out 1 heaping teaspoon of the blend per serving
  3. Bring the water to a simmer and add your herbs to the pot
  4. Cover with a lid and let simmer for 30 minutes
  5. Turn off the heat and continue to let the mixture steep for another 30 minutes
  6. Strain and drink
